Decorating A Dorm Room
If you are in the market for decorating ideas for dorm rooms you may be in luck because these rooms may be small but you can be very creative. When you need to redesign your dorm room you don’t want to spend a lot of money that you probably don’t have to spend. You want to be able to budget and redecorate without costing you a fortune.
Dorm beds are usually the main piece of furniture in the room. They are used to sleep on, study on, eat and watch television on, and more. The bed is the one main place that everyone can feel more at home. In order to get the best of both worlds, you may want to consider purchasing a dorm style bed ensemble. This set includes an upper bunk bed, a desk and lounge chair underneath. This would make any situation good.
To make your dorm room even more utilized try purchasing a few simple organizers from any local store or online. Use these organizers in your kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and living room area. Because you are living in a dorm room you probably share everything with a roommate. That is why you need to have everything in a tote or organizational box. You can easily pack up your crate or box and shove it in your closet or under your bed when you are not using them.
One of the best ways to make use of the space is to limit the amount that you use with bulky stuff. You need several bulletin boards that you cover with material and ribbon to display your pictures on one board and the second one can display your notes, calendar, class schedule and more. To cover your bulletin board you need material of your choice, ribbon and a hot glue gun. Glue the big piece of material on the bulletin board. Tighten up around the edges and tuck behind. Add strips of ribbon diagonally in one direction and then start over on the other side until the ribbons are in the shape of diamonds. You can color code your bulletin board in order to suit your needs. Hang one in the kitchen to display your recipes. Use another one to keep addresses and phone numbers handy so you can write or call home when you want to.
Brighten your room by hanging up lace curtains. This will allow the right amount of light in your room. You can also add a blind to keep out the cold, the dark or to get your privacy while you are in your room.
In your lounge space or your living room you may want to use area rugs in front of each chair or sofa as well as under tables to avoid rings in the carpet or mud and dirt in front of your carpet. You can find some polypropylene area rugs that are cheaper and easier to clean than the more traditional woolen area rugs. Most people take off their shoes when they walk in but for those that don’t you will want to be able to clean up the mess in half the time.
